Greetings Highlanders, and Parents:
It’s the beginning of a new year at BMHS. I just wanted to share with you some interesting events planned for the BMHS family this school year. Some of you may have had and opportunity already to hear about the Friends Of The Highlanders and have read the note just posted on the web page, but I just wanted to make a personal contact with each of you.
The first event planned to help nurture our community at BMHS is an annual event to bring the alumni back to the school in a new tradition of a Homecoming Weekend each fall. We have planned different events on this weekend. The planning has begun this year for a pancake breakfast on Sat Oct 10, 2009 from 8:30-11:30 am hosted by the Friends of the Highlanders. The Football Team has an auction and dance that evening from 9:30pm-1:00am. This great kick-off for homecoming is an opportunity for all of us to come together, lay back a little, have fun, and a chance to catch up with friends and make new ones, so come out and take part.
The two other main events for the Friends of the Highlanders, are as follows. This fall we will be selling Christmas Wreaths. This will help us in two ways, first by challenging our homeroom classes in a little friendly competition, with students having opportunities to have their names drawn for great prizes and for the top Homeroom in sales receiving a pizza party. This fund raising event will help fund specific projects in the school.
And finally, the best event of all, The Gathering of the Clans. This is a fun filled 24 hr day at BMHS, with many events including, talent shows, coffee house, inflatable games and of course the highland games. So let’s get ready to mark up our calendars with these important dates soon to be released.
My final note to you all, please take the opportunity and notice our new Donor Wall. There will be brochures available soon that will explain our different levels of donations, which are a taxable deduction, and a great way to support BMHS.
Bye for now Highlander families
David Horsman
Chairperson of the Friends of the Highlanders
