GRAD COUNCIL UPDATE
2008-2009
Prom
Prom will take place at Studio 700 on Tuesday, June 16th. The dance goes from
7:00pm-12:00am. Dress is formal.
Scholarships and Bursaries
Students are encourages to report any scholarships and bursaries that they have received from various institutions to the Guidance office. The names of the recipients will appear in the Graduation Program. Continue to pick up Grad Bulletins at the Guidance office and remember to send your final transcript to the institution you are attending.
Grad Wear
We are ordering our grade wear from Chandeliers Sales. Our deadline is next week with a final decision as to what the final items and logo will be. We are talking to Mr. Brooks and Megan Cory to possibly creating a new design/logo for the 2009 grad wear.
Memento
The grad memento of 2009 will possibly be a mug with the school logo on it as well as a picture frame with the grad class picture. We are still looking at the prices of these items.
Safe Grad
Safe Grad will be taking place at the Dundee Sports Dome for paint balling and a night of games. After this we will be transported to the school for the hypnotist presentation and a movie. The grads will be provided with food at both locations. We are ordering synch back packs for grad prizes. Others will be contacted to receive donations for prizes.
Grad Events/Fundraising
- Sunday, March 15th, there will be Grad Movie Night taking place in the cafeteria. The cafeteria will be cleared and mats will be put on the floor. Mr. Corbett will be dealing with the projector and screen. We will also be having a canteen at this event. The movie featured is Ferris Bueller’s Day Off
- On Thursday, March 19th, there will be a Wings and Strings night. The night will begin at Bowlerama in Dieppe at 5:00pm, following this we will get the grads to go to Don Cherry’s at 6:30 pm for wing night.
- BMHS Dress Sale is taking place on March 26th (4pm-8pm) and March 28th (10am-1pm). Flyers have been sent out around to other high schools. People have submitted used dresses to sell; as well we have ACS formals showing their dresses.
- We will be having a bottle drive towards the end on April to fundraise money. This will include all Grad Council members going door to door to pick up bottles (notifying a week in advance).
- The Grad Fashion will be taking place on May 7th in the auditorium at BMHS. Tickets will start being sold mid-April.
- On May 8th and 9th we will be bagging at Trinity Superstore to raise money for Dragon Boat.
- We will be having a Teacher Car Wash in May. This will include grad members cleaning teacher’s cars for a day for fundraising.
- We are planning to have a grad BBQ late May/early June.
