WHAT’S HAPPENING AT BMHS: . Tuesday, May 15th is School District 2 Drama Festival. PISA testing for 15 grade 10 students at BMHS, . Wednesday, May 16th-Progress reports to go home with only those students who may be struggling, School District 2 Turnaround Awards Night Banquet being held at BMHS cafeteria for those students being recognized in this Turnaround Award. .Thursday, May 17th Grade 8 students from our feeder schools will visit us for the school day with many events planned. As well, 4-11 PM that same day will be our “Gathering of the Clans” event. . Friday, May 18th No school for students as it is the NBTA Branch day for teachers .Note to parents whose child wrote the ELPA in January, 2012. The results have arrived. A copy of your childs result has been sent to the homeroom teacher for distribution. Please speak to your child to view his/her result. All grade 9 student will receive a copy of their result, as well, any grade 11 or 12 student who had to redo one or both components. Have yourself a great weekend! |

WHAT’S HAPPENING AT BMHS: 1. Course selection forms from all grade 10 and 11 students are now overdue. Please speak with your child to ensure you have signed off on their selection form. 2. Congratulations to Vishnu BalaBhaskaran, Grade 9 second place, Logan LaPlace, Grade 11 first place and Ian Phillips,Grade 12 first place a the Provincial Chess tournament. 3. Congratulations to the many BMHS students who are currently participating at the Provincial Drama Festival in Fredericton. This is BMHS’ first entry as a school to this provincial event. 4. Many students had the opportunity today to attend presentations of authors, David Gilmour and Nora Young who are part of the Northrup Frye festival. 5. Congratulations to teachers Ms. Karen Currie and Ms. Paulette Diotte who were acknowledged by student submissions as teachers who inspired them to enjoy reading and making literarcy an important part of their life. They were recognized on CBC. 6. On May 1st there are students from grades 9-12 participating at the 2012 YOUTHFEST at City Hall. 7. On May 2nd some BMHS students and teachers will be travelling to New York with other Moncton area High Schools to attend an Art trip. 8. PSSC meeting on Tuesday, May 1st, 7:15 pm. If interested, you are welcome to attend. 9. On Friday, May 4th there is NO school for students as teachers will be attending their subject council day. 10. On Tuesday, May 8th, School District 2 is hosting a Mental Health Symposium at the BMHS auditorium. The doors open at 6 PM with the event beginning at 7:00-9:00 PM, open to the public. |

WHAT’S HAPPENING AT BMHS: . Midterms are underway and will finish Thursday, April 5th. . No school for students on April 6, 9, and 20 th. . Congratulations to BMHS students, Vishnu Balabhaskaran, Logan LaPlace, Ian Phillips and Robert Wright who will represent BMHS at the provincial chess tournament on April 14th. . Congratulations to BMHS students, Robbie Currie, Jaeyoung Hong, Nami Kim and Tedd Parrott who will represent BMHS at the ECMA Battle of the Band finals on April 11 th in Dieppe. . April 10th beginning of Term 4, April 13th report cards home, April 17th School Speech Competition, April 18th Grade 10 Career Day, April 19th Fashion Show, April 25th Cafe Underground, April 27th Northrop Frye author visitation-David Gilmour and Nora Young.

WHAT’S HAPPENING AT BMHS: 1. Report cards sent home with students today. 2. French Immersion testing of reading and writing skills of selected Grade 10 students will take place on April 16-18th during the school day. 3. Students entering grade 11 or 12 next school year are reminded to return their course selection sheets to their period 1 teacher by Wednesday, April 18th. 4. The City of Moncton Parks and Leisure Services invite residents to a community open house at Evergreen Park School on Wednesday, April 18th at 7PM to view a draft that describes how the planning team has addressed resident desires for a North End Recreation Center. 5. Grade 10 Career Fair will be held on the afternoon of Wednesday, April 18th, a special thank you to Mr. Jeff Reath and the PSSC members as well as, Ms. Gignac for the organization of this event. 6. April 19th, BMHS will hold a Spring Fashion show with doors open for 6:30 PM in support of the Lions Sick Children’s Fund. 7. A free public conference on ADHD presented by James B. Hale, Ph D from University of Victoria will be held on April 19th, 6:30-9:30 PM at Hampton Inn and Suites on Mapleton Road. 8. Congratulation to BMHS Grade 10 student, Emily Weston on creating the winning design for the 2012 Drama festival. 9. For those students who may be interested in a summer Ball Hockey league visit www.GOODYSBALLHOCKEY.COM. 10. Gathering of the Clans will be held on May 17th from 3:30-11:30 PM. The entrance fee is $50 which can be raised by selling 10- $5 Bursary BINGO cards. All proceeds go to the Friends of the Highlanders to be used for 10-$500 bursaries and to help continue our initiatives to ensure that there is “NO HIGLANDER LEFT BEHIND”. What's Happening at BMHS 1. Course Fair/Night of the Arts: Tuesday, March 27th, 6-9 p.m. We will begin the evening for your viewing with a display of a number of courses offered here at BMHS followed by an incredible line up for student musical and drama productions. Ms. Langille's students of the BMHS Orchestra, Chorus and Vocal Ensemble, Skits from Mr. Lloyd's Theatre Art Classes, Mr. Trider's Grade 9 Band Class, musical duets, and much more. There will be wonderful Art pieces from Mr. Brook's classes that will be on display and part of a silent auction, desserts, prepared by Ms. Corrigan's Culinary Art Students, raffle tickets to purchase to win prizes and of course, all evening a display of books for your donation to our Sandra Lass Library. The evening is open to all to come and enjoy and view the talents of our BMHS family. Look forward to seeing you!
2. Grade 12 Arts Students show their stuff: During the Month of March Grade 12 Visual Arts students have been participating in the annual Visual Arts Senior Exhibit at the Moncton City Hall Gallery. The exhibit is open to the general public daily from 8 a.m to 5 p.m.
3. Parent Teacher Interviews: Thursday, March 29th, 6:30-8:30 P.m. Please note a course selection information session for those interested will be offered by Guidance from 6-6:30 p.m. in our auditorium. Friday, March 30th, 9-11:30 a.m parent teacher with a course selection session from 8:30-9:00. There will be no school for students on Friday, March 30th.
4. Notice to Parents that we still have many outstanding Student Profile Sheets. It is important for us in the office to have current student information in our system. Please speak with your son/daughter to confirm completion to the office.
5. The BMHS Bike Klub is selling tickets on a 40 inch Samsung LCD TV with proceeds to support the after school program. Tickets are $2.00 each or three for $5, tickets available at the office. Draw is June 1st, 2012.
6. Please review with your son/daughter the BMHS school dress policy on our website. With the warmer weather clothing choices have changed but choices must be in line with our policy. Thank you in advance for your cooperation.
7. Midterms begin on Thursday, March 29th
8. For information purposes only,we, as a school, have been informed by the Public Health Division that we have a probable cause of pertussis(Whooping Cough) at our school.
